Micro-sprinkler irrigation, drip irrigation how to choose the right pump?

2024/06/26

Selection of irrigation pumps in the first place to choose the type of pump according to the water source, followed by the irrigation area to consider the head and flow of the pump, to determine the above conditions, micro-sprinkler, drip irrigation can achieve the desired results. Here we have a specific analysis:

  一、Types of water pumps

Agricultural irrigation water pumps for different areas have different options, there are three main types of agricultural water pumps to choose from: mixed flow pumps, centrifugal pumps, and submersible pumps. Mixed flow pump flow and head between centrifugal pumps and axial flow pumps. Small size, light weight, high efficiency, and wide efficiency zone, simple structure, easy to use, easy maintenance. Conveying medium is clear water or similar to clear water, suitable for farmland drainage and irrigation use in areas with abundant surface water sources in the south. Centrifugal pump is the use of impeller rotation and make the water centrifugal movement to work. There are more models to choose from, and a wide range of flow rates and heads to choose from, making it a pump with a wide range of applications in agriculture. Plains can choose a lower head centrifugal pump, hilly areas can choose a moderate head, and high altitude areas can use a higher head multistage centrifugal pump. Users should choose according to the local conditions, water sources and water lifting height. Submersible pumps are suitable for pumping water from deep wells, and are mainly used for irrigation of farmland in plain areas and highland mountainous areas where surface water is scarce, such as North China.

  二、Pump head

The so-called head refers to the required pressure, not a single lift height, clear this point is particularly important for the selection of water pumps. Pump head is about 1.15 to 1.20 times the height of the water. Such as a water source to the vertical height of the water 20 meters, the required head is about 23 to 24 meters. Selection of pumps should make the pump nameplate head and the required head close to the case, the efficiency of the pump, the use of more economical. However, it is not always required equal, general deviation as long as not more than 20%, the pump can work in a more energy efficient.

Select the nameplate head is much smaller than the required head of a pump, often will not meet the user's wishes, even if the water can be pumped up, the amount of water will be small, and even become a useless & ldquo; idle pump & rdquo;. Is it better to buy a pump with a higher head? Actually not. High head pump for low head, there will be too much flow, resulting in motor overload, if the long run, the motor temperature rises, the winding insulation will gradually deteriorate, and even burn the motor.

(1)Lower head, with ordinary centrifugal pumps. Water belt micro-sprinkler head, belt working pressure is generally below 10 meters, 20 meters, plus piping losses, water pump head is 15-25 meters. Ordinary micro-sprinkler irrigation or drip irrigation working pressure in about 20 meters, the pump head can be selected 25-40 meters. For small family size (3-10 acres), using " a pump and a pipe ” mode, optional power in 1.1-2.2 kilowatts, caliber in 25-40 millimeters, the head of 15 or so of the motor pump, in the absence of power lines, available gasoline engine water pump.

(2)Moderate head, with sprinkler irrigation pump. Generally used in large field sprinkler irrigation, irrigation unit in about 50 acres, pump head selected 45 meters; irrigation unit in about 150 acres, pump head selected 55 meters.

(3)Higher head, choose multi-stage pumps. Generally used in mountainous areas of sprinkler irrigation, head calculation is also simple, that is, the plains head + relative height of the mountains, such as mountain height of about 50 meters, the pump head to about 100 meters. Ordinary centrifugal pumps for high head, lower efficiency, so it is not suitable. When the head is greater than 55 meters, you can use multi-stage pumps, which consists of multi-stage impeller in series, the head can reach more than 200 meters, while the efficiency is still a single-stage impeller efficiency, will not be reduced.

  三、Pump flow

The flow rate of the pump, that is, the amount of water output, each micro-sprinkler or drip irrigation has a rated flow range, the installation of micro-sprinkler, drip irrigation needs flow, that is, the flow rate of each micro-sprinkler or drip head multiplied by the number of expected to install is the total flow required. Generally should not be selected too large, otherwise, it will bring the irrigation system burst pipe and other problems at the same time, it will increase the cost of purchasing pumps.

Care should also be taken to match the flow rate of the pump to the specifications of the pipe.
